CIVIL DRAWING TO GIS

Convert civil drawing PDFs into editable Shapefiles.

Read the legend first, build connected point and line objects, place the drawing on OpenStreetMap and correct the result with a topology-safe drag-and-drop editor before export.

  • Legend classes must be reviewed and approved before the network is built.
  • Connected line endpoints move with their point objects.
  • Add, drag or delete line vertices to follow roads, parcels and building contours.
  • Export one WGS84 Shapefile layer for every approved legend class.

HOW IT WORKS

A controlled path from engineering drawing to GIS data.

Instead of treating every coloured pixel as an object, the workflow begins with the drawing legend. The approved legend defines point classes, line classes and connection rules before the editable network is created.

The place name in the filename provides the initial map orientation. OpenStreetMap buildings can then be loaded and matched, while the final position remains fully editable.

1

Read and approve the legend

Rename detected classes, confirm point or polyline geometry and define permitted connections.

2

Build the connected network

Point objects become nodes and matching line endpoints remain snapped to those nodes.

3

Orient and edit on OpenStreetMap

Use building contours, drag objects and reshape routes with editable vertices.

4

Export clean Shapefile layers

Every approved legend class becomes its own WGS84 Shapefile layer.
